My mother, Jacqueline Yvonne Raiford was born November 7, 1946 in Vallejo, Ca. Her parents were Billie Randolph Pruitt and Lillian Mae Carpenter. She was the middle child to two brothers, Billie Randolph Pruitt Jr., “Sonny” and Douglas Randolph Pruitt.
She met our dad while attending a football game at Vallejo High School in 1963. They later got married October 3, 1966. She then became employed at Mare Island Federal Credit Union where she worked for twenty six years before retiring.
She has always loved to keep up with the latest styles and prioritizes dressing with class. Daddy wasn’t into the fashion as much, but mama was able to influence his style of dress as years went on from the basic black, navy blue, and grey suits to more trendy colors and even to wearing a pair of jeans lol.
While daddy was living, she served beside him as a deaconess at Second Baptist church. They would often visit the sick together on Sunday afternoons.
Mama also loved to entertain so we would often have dinner parties during the holidays and host bbq’s on 4th of July. She believes presentation goes a long way, so not only does her food taste good, but it looks appetizing and picture perfect. One interesting fact about mama is that she prefers not to eat out of paper plates. She says it just doesn’t taste the same.
Mama is currently retired and is a faithful member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where she attended as a child. She enjoys traveling, going out to lunch with former coworkers, family/friends, and attending local events.
