Daddy was a great and loving man full of personality. He always had a big smile and a hearty laugh. To know him was to love him!
He loved his family and people in general. He affectionately addressed our mother as “bae or bay”. He often called Michelle “Peach” and me “Mosquito”. I don’t think anyone could say “Motha” as he did, when referring to or addressing our grandmother, Rhoda Mae.
He was a hard worker! In his early years, he sold real estate to acquire his first home. He then began working for Marine Terminals and Maersk Lines where he was promoted to Stevedoring manager. He worked long hours and rarely ever took off from work. The few times he did take off, I remember being so excited and looked forward to him picking me up from school.
Daddy loved to entertain, so we often hosted dinner parties in our home for the holidays, bbq’s for the 4th of July, and Sunday dinner after church with a host of family, friends, and church members in attendance.
He enjoyed playing checkers! Sometimes he and some of “the guys” would get together and play. He often spoke of fishing, but he didn’t go as often as he’d like. He absolutely loved to travel whether by car across the country, a cruise, or a flight
He was a devout Christian. Every night before going to bed, he would get down on his knees and pray. He was a deacon in the church and attended church regularly. He would lead devotion at church on Sunday mornings by praying and singing some of his favorites “The reason I live like I live, like I live..I don’t want to be lost..

”, ”Be done, be done, be done..Let the will of the Lord be done” just to name a couple. He would visit the sick and pray with them and in his unique way would often out a smile on their face.
**This was daddy as I remember him.
